[H]ospitality
Completed 2019Tucked discreetly behind a sports bar in Eagle Rock, this 14-seat cocktail room is a study in spatial immersion, where design and hospitality converge to create an atmosphere of deliberate escapism. With no windows to the exterior, the space is entirely self-contained, evoking the backdoor allure of 1970s Berlin. The bar operates with the precision of fine dining, offering a curated cocktail tasting menu that evolves over time, reflecting seasonal influences.
Influenced by the Italian Radical design movement, the interior composition juxtaposes raw materiality with refined detailing. Glass block partitions diffuse ambient light, brown velvet drapery softens the enclosure, and neon elements provide a subtle counterpoint to the dim, atmospheric glow. Site-specific bar stools anchor the space, while two monumental chrome palm trees introduce a surreal sculptural presence. The result is a meticulously crafted environment—at once immersive, unexpected, and deeply transportive.
