Completed 2017Expanding upon the design language of previous locations, this Los Angeles flagship brings the concept to its most ambitious scale yet. Located in the Arts District, the space refines the balance between industry and art, elevating the chocolate factory to a fully immersive experience.
The exterior is a study in Minimalist restraint—a crisp white structure, reminiscent of John Pawson’s architectural purity, punctuated by a simple neon sign that reads Chocolate. Inside, a gallery-like boutique at the front of the space sets the tone, featuring sculptural cork-clad displays and a high-polished red counter.
Beyond the boutique, the vast warehouse unfolds into a factory unlike any other. The chocolate-making process is distilled into five modular structures, each dedicated to a distinct stage of production. Inspired by Donald Judd’s concrete boxes, these forms stand as sculptural interventions within the space, with large glass picture windows offering a precise, didactic view of the craft at work.
