Completed 2023Nestled among towering pines near Lake Gregory, this 1949 San Moritz-style cabin is reimagined as a quiet retreat, drawing from the Nordic summer houses of Erik Gunnar Asplund, the alpine modernism of Charlotte Perriand’s Les Arcs, and the intimacy of Dylan Thomas’ writing shed.
The renovation embraces the tactility of natural materials—stone, wood, and tile—grounding the cabin in its mountain setting. Weathered timber walls and exposed beams echo the landscape, while expansive openings frame shifting light and views of the stream and trees beyond.
Designed for solitude and reflection, the space blurs the boundary between built and natural, embracing the landscape rather than imposing upon it. The result is a retreat that feels both deeply personal and connected to its environment.
